9-year-old boy killed by school in Brooklyn

WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A 9-year-old boy was fatally struck by a private school bus in Brooklyn on Friday morning.

The bus was making a left turn from Lee Avenue to Lorimer Street in Williamsburg just after 8:15 a.m. when it struck the boy.

The boy was hit while he was on his way to school.

He was pronounced dead at scene.

The 49-year-old operator of the bus initially left the scene but returned. He apparently didn't realize he had struck the boy.

Burial of the child is tentatively scheduled for Sharai Tora Bais Hachaim Cemetery in South Brunswick later Friday afternoon.
